LG Poll: Oluyole Community leaders frown at Olaide Settle, back Akeem Olatunji as Chairman

On Thursday, community leaders in Oluyole local government expressed displeasure at the dubious and political behaviour of Olaide Settle Popoola, the Oluyole local government current chairman, who abandoned them at Oluyole Local Government Registry Hall, New Garage in Ibadan after inviting them to a meeting in the morning.

While waiting for Hon. Settle Olaide to show up and explain the purpose of their invitation, the Baales who had come at the meeting by 8:30am were stuck in the hall for several hours.

Some of the baales eventually left in irritation after waiting for several hours, but our correspondent, who was informed of the development at precisely noon, confirmed that.

However, some baales, including the Chairman and PRO of the Oluyole Baales’ forum, patiently waited to observe the drama and were able to know that they had been invited on a selfish basis related to Hon. Olaide settle chairmanship ambition.

Recall that Settle had on Wednesday chosen a few supposed Oluyole leaders to mobilise to the former PDP Deputy National Chairman’s house to express their complaints in reaction to the confirmation list released by Ambassador Arapaja’s led local government poll committee.

The Baales, who later reassembled at Sawmill Hall, New Garage, to voice their unhappiness, stressed that they are extremely unhappy with the manner Hon. Settle treated them and that they wouldn’t have honored the invitation if they had known it was motivated by selfish interests.

The 51 bales in the Oluyole local government who spoke through their Chairman, Suara Okesola, who is the baale of Orileodo, and their PRO, Muniru Inaolaji Azeez, who is the baale of Ifesowapo Adaramogbo, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the interests of Governor Seyi Makinde.

They stated that during the 2023 governorship election, they threw their weight behind Governor Makinde and he won overwhelmingly, stressing that they will also support Akeem Olatunji as the next chairman of Oluyole local government since he’s the anointed candidate.

“We are inline with whatever decision taken by Governor Makinde and will never be violent or go against the wish of the governor.

“Our support is not for monetary gain rather to protect the interest of Governor Makinde just like we did also by supporting the Governor, Chief Ilaka, Hon Mogbonjubola & Hon Akintayo in the last election.

“Our vote is always for the governor. We will never be an enemy to his good governance. We know that his government is the government of the people and as such, we will always support anyone he want.

“We know that Akeem Olatunji has always been a good man even though we often hear him on air defending and promoting the good governance of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“So, we can assure you once again that the entire Baales of Oluyole are fully in support of Hon. Akeem Olatunji as the consensus chairmanship candidate of Oluyole local government.”
