I will continue to visit Tinubu until … – Makinde

The governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde has disclosed that he will continue to visit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek for things that will benefit the people of Oyo state.

He stated this on Thursday at a separate dinner organized by Lana Fun Seyi Group as well as the 9th Oyo House Assembly Valedictory service attended by the Deputy governor, Barritser Abdul Raheem Adebayo Lawal as well as other top government functionaries in Ibadan, the state capital.

Makinde, who said that politics is a game of interest, noted that he was a member of another party when he contested for governorship election in the past, adding that both Senator Teslim Folarin of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Barrister Lana Folorunso of Socio Democratic Party (SDP) were also in a different party.

He wondered why some people are so disturbed that he’s visiting the president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with their comments on social media.

Government will come and go, he asserts, and he is happy to meet with the president because what matters most is what can be brought to the table to affect the lives of the people of Oyo state.

He stated that those who worked for his re-election would be rewarded while thanking Barrister Lana Folorunso and his group for their support during the March 18th governorship election.

“This is your government. As we are pulling the government together, this group will also be represented.

“Although not everybody can get appointment but if you know this is your government, you can get value and add value and also get your own out of this government.”

The era of just giving people money has passed, according to Makinde, who also revealed that entertainers who contributed to the success of Omitutun 2.0 also need to be empowered.

He maintained that when you empower people for sustainable growth and they are adding value, any government that comes on board too will also empower them.

The governor advised the entertainers to come up with their proposal to look for a way to empower them, assuring that the Oyo state money would be judiciously used for the benefit of the people.

“You can always make access to us. Anything that will make you to be economically empowered, we are ready for you.

“I look forward working together with you in this administration and I pray that you will all reap from it,”he said.

The governor similarly promised that he would call on those who lost their bid for reelection to the 10th Assembly in the last election to be part of the government.

“I enjoy working with you, so I am charging you to also provide support for your colleagues who are coming back to the House.

“We will continue to protect your interest”, he added.

Earlier in his remarks, Barrister Micheal Folorunso Lana said they are celebrating two things – Godly decision and the historic victory of the Governor at the last election.

According to him, historic in the sense that the governor won with appreciable margin. His victory is worthy of celebration and that is why we are here celebrating history.

“The Governor, in the last four years, has succeded in steering the affairs of the state in a peaceful manner. What I am after is to see a governor that is passionate about transformation of the state, and we can see that in Him.

“Secondly, we are also celebrating the unprecedented victory. You all know I was also a contestant during the electionering period. Some of us decided to follow the governor while some followed other people but we thank God the governor emerged victorious.

“If we look at it critically, it has never happened in this state before that a governorship candidate will win 31 out of 33 local government areas. It has never happened. So, it is worthy of celebration because something unique happened and we want to thank God for being part of the unique history. We need to celebrate history and celebrate Governor Makinde.

“In the last four years, His administration has been fantastic. He has been able to steer the canoe of the state in a peaceful manner. At least, we have to give kudos to that and we believe that, in the next four years, he will give us better because he now has the experience.”

The former Speaker of the 9th Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin also thanked the governor for his support in his earlier remarks and promised that the coming 10th Assembly would be more fulfilling.
