[BREAKING] Subsidy Removal: Protest Rocks Benin, Edo Over High Cost of Petrol (Photos)

Residents of Benin City in Edo state have stormed the streets to protest recent hike in petrol pump price arising from the announcement by President Bola Tinubu of end to petrol subsidy.

Pump price of petrol at Filling Stations jumped to between N500 to N1200 after Tinubu’s inaugural speech.

NNPC in a press statement on Wednesday confirmed the new price regime between N488 and N550.

The protesters bearing placards have blocked some major roads and  demanding a return to the old price.

They say the government should use a gradual approach to end the subsidy policy
