March 18th: Afonja engages Arewa community, solicits support for Makinde’s re-election

Members of the Arewa organization under the aegis of the Progressive Foundation for Humanity Development have made known their resolve to support Engr. Seyi Makinde’s re-election bid to record an overwhelming victory in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

They made this pledge during a courtesy visit of the former Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof Raphael Afonja AbdulRahman on Tuesday at their base in Ibadan.

The rationale behind the visit, according to Afonja, was to reset the flying propaganda as to Makinde’s body language on Feb. 25th presidential election which claimed the PDP party shouldn’t be Voted for.

“The unreal propaganda which emanated from the opposition party is not only misleading but also unfounded. Having spent almost 20years in Kaduna, I’m one of you and I’d represent you towards impacting your lives positively.

In his call for continued efforts to better their lives, Afonja solicited massive support of the Arewa community to vote en mass on Saturday for Engr. Seyi Makinde.

He urged the organization with over 300 registered voters as members to be committed in voting for the governor in the upcoming election and also encourage their friends and family members.

Afonja equally said the PDP will clear the rot in the land and make the country safe for everybody.

He noted that the Arewa in Nigeria are peace loving people but unfortunately the rudderless leadership of the APC at the centre has made their homestead in the Northern part of the country a theatre of war.

In the words of one of their representatives, he sought better representation of the Hausa community in his government.

They further threw their support for the reelection of Engr Seyi Makinde, adding that a support walk sould be staged for the Gov.

Afonja extended his appreciation to leadership of the organisation and also supported with cash gift in a bid to aid the campaign progresses, awareness and their walk for Governor Seyi Makinde’s Re-election bid scheduled for Thursday.
