Ex-Oyo Commissioner congratulates Makinde, PDP Assembly candidates on electoral victory

The Oyo former Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Abdulrahman Raphael Afonja, has congratulated Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, over his re-election as Governor of the state, saying that Omituntun 2.0 will consolidate on sustainable development.

Makinde, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, emerged winner, having polled 563,756 votes cast beating his closest opponent, Senator Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 256,685.

Afonja equally congratulated the 10th assembly candidates under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, particularly those from Ogbomoso zone where he comes from.

In his congratulatory message on Monday, he commended the efforts of the security agencies, the electoral umpire for a peaceful election as well as the people who trooped out en masse to cast their votes en-mass for Governor Makinde and the 10th assembly candidates under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.

He, however, prayed that God will give the Governor and the elected members of House of Assembly the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.

His statement reads: “I congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and all the House of Assembly candidates particularly those from Ogbomoso zone on their success at the gubernatorial election in Oyo State as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commmission (INEC) today.

“I wish to specially commend Governor Makinde for his outstanding leadership and performances in winning Peoples’s heart for them to cast their vote for PDP on Saturday.

“I equally applaud the voters for rewarding hard work and good governance with massive votes and for speaking in such a way and manner that they want Omituntun 2.0 to be activated which is hinged on sustainable development.

“Yes, the security agencies also did a good job for being more professional and ensuring that the peoples’ votes counts.
