Yuletide: Jos residents lament high cost of rice, chicken

Outcries have been seen from residents of Jos, the Plateau State capital, who experience bleak festivities.

MOUTHPIECE NGR gathered that the residents expressed worry over the high cost of food items such as rice and chicken as the Christmas celebration draws closer.

A resident, Bulus Pam, said the joy of the occasion may be lost as they cannot afford to share food with neighbours.

Another resident, Douglas Okoro, called on the state government to pay salaries to enable workers to enjoy the Yuletide.

A housewife, Mary Bwan, said she could not afford to buy new clothes for her children because prices have hit the roof.

“They will have to wear old clothes,” she said.
