PHOTOS: Oyo deputy gov tee-off 10th edition Tiger ladies, pledges support 

As the 10th Tiger Ladies Open got underway on Saturday at the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment in Oojo Ibadan, Barr Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo State, has reaffirmed government support to golf and members of the Tiger Golf Club. 

Lawal acknowledged his happiness at joining the golfing community and stated that, given the substantial health benefits of golf, the value of golf sports cannot be understated.

He did, however, pledge to return to the area to practice and interact with golfers when he had free time. 

“The governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde is an active golfer; hence drawing my interest into the game, and apart from that, our guiding principle includes providing support and enabling environment for all social activities to strive.

 I’m happy to welcome golfers that come from far and wide to participate in this unique tournament in Ibadan”, said the Deputy Governor.

Speaking in the same vein, the Captain of the club, Alh Tunde Salami appreciated every golfer that came to participate in the tournament, especially the top chieftains of Lady Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN) which include its National, Zonal Executives and past presidents of the body.

He however assured golfers that will be coming for this year’ Tiger Opens which is the biggest event on the calendar of events at the Tiger Golf Club, saying what we’re experiencing now is a pointer to what awaits golfers during 12th to 18th of this month.

“We have upgraded the club’s reception area and created a central cashing point. And there has been a total clean up of the fairways and general revamping of our bunkers. Our course is in good shape ahead of the big event,” Salami said.
