VIDEO: Bayo Lawal, Santana, others lay foundation of E-library in Kishi

On Sunday, the foundation of proposed Novelty varsity’s e-library was officially laid in Irepo local government by Barrister Abdul-raheem Adebayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo state, and other key stakeholders.

Gbolagade Abdul Ganiyu Abdul Salam, also known as GAS, is a philanthropist and the founder of Novelty Polytechnic in Kishi.

He is also one of the sons of the deceased, and he oversaw the laying of the foundation for the e-library, which received donations from many people at the event, including the deputy governor, who gave 500,000.

Alhaji GAS urged Kishians to make their own donations to the building of the e-library, which will, in his opinion, further enhance the town, during the fidau prayer that was conducted inside the school’s premises.

He also urged residents of the town to send their children to Novelty Polytechnic, claiming that this would give them a better chance of receiving patronage aid because NUC would be more likely to provide approval due to the town’s support.

However, the deceased was referred to in the deputy governor’s speech as “Simbiat Alate,” who was highly known in the community when he was young.

Lawal, who was flanked alongside his wife, Chief (Mrs) Ajibola Lawal, said the establishment of the e-library has a wider scope, noting that careful planning is necessary to ensure its success within nine months.

He praised Alhaji GAS for his beautiful initiative and for thinking it appropriate to come up with such humanitarian project to invoke Allah’s blessing over the deceased.

The deputy governor told the crowd that he will call the committee to a meeting in Ibadan so they can discuss what would be required to make it a reality given the enormity of the project.

In his remarks, the chairman of Irepo Local government, Hon. Adediran Santana, who is also one of those that participated in the laying of the foundation prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the project as a reward for the departed soul.

Among those present at the event include PDP senatorial candidate, Hon. Akinwole Akinwale, House of Reps candidate, Hon. IJABAH, Business mogul, Alhaji Masoroju and Kishi Chief Imam.
