Suspected armed robber lost his life after gun duel with police in Delta

A suspected armed robber reportedly lost his life after a gun battle with men of the Anti-Crime Patrol linked to the “A” Division in Warri, South Local Government Area of Delta State as two others ran away from the crime scene.

MOUTHPIECE NGR has gathered that the suspect lost his life in a hospital while receiving medical attention.

The Police also has recovered one locally-made cut-to-size gun with six live cartridges and two expanded cartridges from the suspected armed robber.

It was learnt that the police officers on routine stop and search duty at Iyara road had an encounter with a tricycle with three male occupants.

The Delta State Police Command under the control of CP Ari Muhammad Ali has confirmed the news in a statement signed by the Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe.

The police spokesman said, “The suspects surprisingly reversed the tricycle and sped off, the team upon suspicion went after them till they got to Chevron Clinic road in Warri.”

He further said, “The hoodlums opened fire on the policemen and the team equally responded.

“The injured suspect was taken to the hospital where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.

“One locally made cut-to-size gun with six live cartridges and two expanded cartridges were recovered.”

DSP Edafe said, “Serious manhunt for the other members of the gang is ongoing.”
