Seven family members die after consuming poisoned food in Zamfara

No lesser than seven members of a family have been reported dead in Danbaza village, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Food poisoning has claimed the lives of seven members of the family.

MOUTHPIECE NGR learnt that the scenario happened after the members of the family consumed mixed vegetables with corn, popularly known as Dambu, which was to be taken as their dinner.

An eyewitness reveals that the deceased, two married women and five of their children, were lost immediately after the consumption of the meal.

According to a member of the family, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir, as soon as the people finished consuming the meal, four of the victims lost their lives instantly, while three hospitalized where they were reported dead by doctors.

“The deceased were alleged to use poisonous substances in the cooking of the meal,” he said.

The seven deceased victims were buried in their home town, Danbaza, according to Islamic injunction.

When contacted, the sole administrator of the Maradun local government, Umar Mu’azu, has confirmed the incident, saying that delegation from the local government were sent to condole with the family of the victims’.

The local government council has implored the family to accept the loss as a will of Allah and prayed for the family to be granted the fortitude to bear the loss.
