PDP sets up committee to unite Gov Wike, Atiku

Trying to reconcile the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party has set up a committee of all.

MOUTHPIECE NGR observes that Governor Wike is disgruntled over PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s choice of the Governor of Delta State, Okowa as his running mate.

The former vice president had declined the recommendations of a committee he form to choose his running mate after his victory at the PDP presidential primaries.

The 16-man committee has recommended Wike, who came second during the party’s primary election but the former vice president chose Okowa, saying that he chose who could deliver.

The former lawmaker, Senator Abdul Ningi while briefing newsmen at the end of the BoT meeting which lasted for about 4 hours in Abuja, said the committee is expected to intervene in the matter between the warring camps.

He said, “we have set up in this meeting committee of the BoT to be able to interface between warring factions, particularly the acrimony that is taking place between the presidential candidate and Governor Wike.”

Senator Ningi has said the committee is also expected to resolve other conflicts that are lingering in the party across the country.

“The committee is the committee of the whole, that means every other BoT member is a member of the committee. I cannot tell you the grievances and the time frame,” he started.

While responding whether the call for the removal of the PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu was discussed at the BoT meeting, the former lawmaker has said: “we have not even discussed any issue of anybody stepping down. What we discussed is what I told you”.
