Groom, 5 others found dead in Enugu

The Police Command in Enugu State have begun an investigation into the death of six persons, including a groom.

The security agency is looking into the circumstances surrounding the discovery at Akutara village in Adani community of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area.

Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe issued a statement on the incident.

He said the police got a report of sudden and unnatural death of six persons and the hospitalization of eight others at the weekend.

Preliminary investigations reveal that one of the deceased, 31-year-old Obinna Dike attended his traditional marriage ceremony at Obollo-Eke in Udenu LGA on August 26th.

Dike attended with his relatives and other victims, who all went back home and continued with the celebration.

But the following morning, none of them came out of the room where they slept, causing the door to be forced open.

All were found unconscious, with foamy discharge from their mouths and were rushed to the hospital.

They were confirmed dead and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy. Others are responding to treatment.

Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani has ordered a full-scale probe. The CP commiserated with the families and friends of the deceased.

Ammani appealed to the residents of the community to maintain peace and assist the command with information in the case.
