EFCC apprehends corps member, clerics hired by ‘Yahoo boys’

Men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested seven suspected internet fraudsters in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state.

The spokesperson of the agency, Wilson Uwujaren has said they were caught at a hotel close to a popular mall in the state capital.

Among the suspects are two clerics and a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The anti financial crime commission said the clerics were hired and lodged in the hotel to offer spiritual assistance to some of the alleged fraudsters.

The suspects have surrendered useful information and would be dragged to court after necessary investigation has been concluded.

The EFCC has sent message of advice to youths to make hardwork their watchword and do away with corruption.

According to the chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, “Yahoo-Yahoo’ is not a sustainable way of life…unemployment should not be an excuse to resort to crimes.”

Bawa added that acts of criminality may deliver wealth in the short term, but will ultimately end in misery.
