Yorubas set to wipe out terrorists attacking Southwest – Gani Adams

Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams has again condemned the security of the country.

The Yoruba chieftain declared that Yorubas are set to safeguard themselves against terrorists.

The traditional leader has warned gunmen to desist from testing the will of the region and the indigenes to prevent further atrocities.

He said the Southwest Security Stakeholders Group (SSSG), comprising the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and others, will henceforth counter attack the attacks.

The Aare made this revelation on Tuesday when he visited the Olowo of Owo kingdom, HRM Oba Ajibade Ogunoye.

The spokesperson of the traditional ruler, Kehinde Aderemi, said Adams has assured that efforts were ongoing to forestall a repeat of the June 5 massacre.

MOUTHPIECE NGR recalls that more than 40 worshippers lost their lives after gunmen shot sporadically at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

The Federal Government has blamed the massacre on the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Adams revealed that the incident was the most devastating experience of terrorism in Yoruba modern history.

“I also wrote a letter informing the United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres of the need to prevent further calamity capable of destroying Nigeria, like what happened in Bosnia,” he said.

“This time around, the Yoruba are more united; we are not cowards. In Yoruba land, we have never lost any war.

“Therefore, we are not going to relent or relax until we get rid of terrorists across the Southwest”, he vowed.

Oba Ogunoye appreciated Adams for the struggle for the emancipation of the region and condemned the federal system of government for the high rate of insecurity in the country.

“Owo people are prepared to defend themselves against external aggressors”, he asserted.
