‘We are satisfied with your selection’— Ogbomoso PDP stakeholders congratulate Oyo Deputy Governor

Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso Zone have expressed their satisfaction with the appointment of Barrister Abdulroheem Bayo Lawal as the deputy governor of Oyo State, describing him as a round peg in a round hole. 

They congratulated the former Attorney-General of Oyo State & Commissioner for Justice and immediate past chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, on his elevation to the post of Deputy Governor.

The stakeholders, who visited the Deputy Governor at his office in Agodi Secretariat, urged Barrister Lawal to protect the interest of Ogbomoso zone as it falls under the Oyo North Senatorial District, same as Oke Ogun Zone where he hails from.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, former Chief of Staff to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr. Saka Balogun, maintained that the Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, is the highest in ranking appointee in Ogbomoso zone and whatever he said was generally accepted by the entire stakeholders. 

He equally charged the Deputy Governor to always advise the Governor on what will benefit Oyo State. 

While appreciating their visit, the Deputy Governor disclosed that he would be fair to all, noting that he is also from Ogbomoso, because he studied at Ogbomoso Grammar School. 

He said: “My youthful age was spent in Ogbomoso. I hold a Chieftaincy title in Ogbomoso; the Onpetu made me Otun Agbaakin of Ijeruland. I had also contested to represent Oyo North Senatorial District at some points in the past.

“I have notable fathers in Ogbomoso who are well-known, including Baba Saka Balogun, Baba Allen Oke Elerin. So, I am a full-blooded Ogbomoso man.”

The Deputy Governor personally extended his greetings to Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Gbadegesin, Hon. Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, as well as the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa. 

He reiterated that the Governor Makinde administration is for everyone, sayunf: “It is a government of the people. I know that everyone would be carried along. So we must ensure that all hands are on deck to ensure victory for our party in the coming election.

“I am happy that I performed excellently well where the Governor first assigned me to. What I observe is that our Governor is fair.  And in that regard, we just have to support this government. Let’s all come together and move this government forward to win the 2023 election.”

On the charge to ensure that he is fair to Ogbomoso Zone, the Deputy Governor maintained that both Oke Ogun and Ogbomoso are all under Oyo North Senatorial District and that the Makinde government has been running an all-inclusive governance that leaves no zone behind.

“There is a strong connection between Ogbomoso and Oke Ogun and we will always maintain the bond. Anyone saying anything to the contrary, it means the person is not well-informed. 

“Again, I think this government has been fair to all zones of Oyo State. We have benefited immensely in Oyo North Senatorial District. In Oke Ogun, Iseyin is now a modern town. Within that axis, you will see that there is an ongoing 76-kilometres road connecting Iseyin to Ogbomoso.

“This project was put in place to facilitate easy access between the LAUTECH Main Campus and the Faculty of Agriculture of the institution, which has been sited in Iseyin also by this government.

“And you all can attest to the fact that His Excellency is passionate about LAUTECH’s progress and has made a commitment to continue see to it that the institution continues to thrive.”

Among those at the meeting were Hon. Ogunwuyi; the chairmen of five local government areas in the zon3; the PDP candidates for the Ogbomoso North/South and Surulere/Ogo Oluwa Federal Constituencies, Hon. Olufemi Onireti and Hon. Makanjuola Smato, respectively; former Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Alao-Akala, Alhaji Gbadegesin, chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, Oyelade and other notable stakeholders.
