Police vow to arrest killers of prospective corps member

The Ogun State police command has made a vow to apprehend the killers of the slain prospective female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Eunice Igweike, who was killed by unknown persons.

MOUTHPIECE NGR has learnt that Igweike had moved from Abia State to the Ogun NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu, but she got missing along the road.

A deceased’s brother was said to have communicated the NYSC management on July 20 to reveal that her sister could not be reached.

Consequent upon this, the NYSC had told security agents, whose efforts resulted to the discovery of Igweike’s lifeless body on July 21 along Sagamu-Imota road.

The body, according to NYSC said is intact, has been deposited in the morgue.

The spokesperson of Ogun police, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said a case of murder was suspected as the product of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, was discovered in a bush path.

“The command has commenced investigation into the matter. No arrest has been made,” Oyeyemi said, adding that the Police Commissioner in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, had directed the Homicide section to unravel the killers of Igweike.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Muhammad Fadah, condoled with the family of Igweike, her community and the government of her state (Abia State).

He gave an assurance that security agencies would work to arrest the killers.

Fadah said the NYSC was reduced by her death, praying God would repose her soul.
