The governor made the clarification when he featured in a Channels TV interview, Politics Today, on Monday.

A report on the arrest of alleged masterminds of the horrible act went rival some weeks back.

Speaking on the development, Akeredolu said the report was false, adding there was never a time such happened.

He noted that the Commander of the Security Corps only confirmed the recovery of the vehicle and phones used in the attack and had submitted all the evidence to the State Security Service (SSS) for necessary actions.

He said: “I listened to the commander and there was never a time he made categorical statement about the arrest. What he said was very clear, that they were on the trail of perpetrators and eventually came across the vehicle they used and some telephones which they have handed over to SSS for analysis and investigation.

“This is the best we have for now. They were very clear as to what happened. And the vehicle recovered was shown to the public.

”The suspected terrorists invaded the church on June 5, killing no fewer than 40 people and injuring several other worshippers.

Governor Akeredolu had promised to do everything possible in order to ensure the arrest and punishment of perpetrators.
