I now have power to demolish houses – Nigerian governor reveals

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has revealed that he now possesses the power to direct the demolition of buildings where cultists hide.

The Governor said the State government had made a law which gives him the power as the governor to destroy any house harboring cultists.

“I have signed a law that now empowers me to demolish any house where a cultist is caught,” Gov Abiodun stated.

Abiodun made this revelation at the 90th birthday of Alhaji Teslim Dawodu, which took place in Sagamu, on Thursday.

Abiodun, has condemned the growing rate of cult clashes in the State.

The number one citizen of the state stressed that his government would not relent, saying all necessary mechanisms would be employed to stop cultism in Ogun.

Abiodun expressed concern about the rate cultists disturb the peace of the residents in Sagamu.

He said that, “these days, you will find out that cultists are now your mechanic, vulcanizer, bricklayer and when you even ask them why they are involved, they don’t even understand.”

The Governor has advised house owners to be mindful of those they bring into their houses, to avoid demolition of their houses.

“This is because if we should catch anyone who is involved in cultism and lives in your house, we will demolish such a house,” the Governor stressed.
