‘I am grateful to Gov. Abiodun Seyi Makinde for honoring me with this position of trust’— Deputy Gov. Bayo Lawal

I have to give my gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for deeming it necessary and expedient to nominate me.

First and foremost, as his running mate towards 2023 general election. And to crown it, to give me this wonderful opportunity to be the Deputy Governor of Oyo state.

I think, and believe that am correct that part of the build up to this event is hard work. The Governor himself even said so.

I do not know that he was monitoring and noticing what I have been doing as a Chairman of Oyo State Housing Corporation. But it manifested today which culminated into this appointment as Deputy Governor.

Constitutionally, the position of Deputy Governor is meant to assist the Governor. It is meant to advise the Governor. And is meant to be a co-traveler with the Governor of a State.

So, I have taken that from the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I know that it’s a position of trust. Trust to the Constitution, and trust to the Governor of Oyo State. I must not, and I repeat, I must not abuse the privilege granted me by the Governor.

The Governor said in his remark that the reward of hard work is further hard work. So, it is a challenge.
