Gov Seyi Makinde reacts to Adeleke’s victory, says power resides with people

Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has reminded politicians across the country that power belongs to the people.

Makinde made this revelation on Sunday.

The governor while reacting to the emergence of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Governor elect in the Saturday’s election in Osun State, advised his colleagues to remember that the people have the power.

MOUTHPIECE NGR observes that Makinde is the only PDP governor in the South West region.

Makinde revealed that what has happened on Saturday was not different from what happened in Oyo State in 2019.

Makinde has via a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa expressed his delight that the PDP flag would be raised in another state in the region.

He said, “It is great to have a second PDP flag flying in the South-West and this victory teaches all politicians an important lesson- that truly, power resides with the people.

“The power of the people will continue to triumph, the earlier politicians realise this fact, the better for our democracy.”

MOUTHPIECE NGR had earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has officially announced Senator Ademola Adeleke, the guber candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the Osun 2022 gubernatorial election.

Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP has polled 403,371 votes.

While his closest contender, the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC gathered 375,027 votes.
