Drivers sent to jail for stealing police officer’s goats

A Magistrate Court in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, Thursday gave two drivers two years imprisonment.

They were accused and convicted of stealing two goats which belong to a police officer.

Abdulrohomod Mohammed and Umar Ibrahim had pleaded guilty to stealing the goats.

The convicts were given the option of N30,000 fine each, by the magistrate, Hyacinth Dolnaan.

The two were directed to pay N40,000 as compensation to the owner of the goats.

The prosecution counsel, Inspector Monday Dabit informed the court that the matter was brought before the Anglo-Jos Police Station on May 29.

The complainant, Insp Chris Henry, said the duo have passed their boundary, into his house while he has gone to church and took away the goats worth N85,000.

The offence was a violation of the provisions of Sections, 59, 333 and 273 of Plateau Penal Code Law.
