Don’t look for job, try to create job – Nigerian governor tells graduands

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has told graduates of the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa to create jobs instead of looking for quick money that does not last.

The Governor made this revelation during the 5th convocation ceremony of the polytechnic which took place at its Dapo Abiodun Twin Lecture Complex.

The Governor was represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedeke.

Abiodun has charged the graduands to display the skills and knowledge in them.

“You should not be job seekers, but job creators. Therefore you need to be creative and innovative,” the governor stated while admonishing that they should allow their families and society benefit from their study and experience.

“I strongly advise that you avoid the unfortunate ways of some people who are after quick wealth which only glitters but does not last. But, strive for excellence through hard and honest work,” he added.

Nothing less than 2,726 OND and HND students of the 2021/2022 academic session who graduated from the institution on its 5th convocation.

Adenuga Aminat, from the Department of Chemistry, who’s the overall best graduating student, got a CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.0.

While addressing the audience, the Rector of the school, Dr. Olufunke Akinkurolere, also told the graduates not to contribute to the country’s woes, stressing that they should be patriotic in saving the country with all the skills acquired at school.

“I advise that you go and prosper as you graduate from school today. Make positive changes and rebuild the falling walls of our Jerusalem which is Nigeria. Do not contribute to the country’s woes, rather, be patriotic and defend the country with all the skills you have acquired here,” she pleaded.
