BREAKING: LAUTECH Alumni meets Makinde, discusses resumption, renaming of institution 

The alumni association of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, held a meeting with Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde to discuss about school resumption and the renaming of the institution to Ladoke Akintola University (LAU). 

MOUTHPIECE NGR recall that the union had in March urged the state House of Assembly to order the suspension of the proposed renaming of the university to Ladoke Akintola University (LAU).

The alumni association explained that thousands of graduates of the institution would suffer in their workplaces if the governor goes ahead to rename the institution.

The institution, which was established three decades ago was formerly owned by both Oyo and Osun States.

It would be recalled that the institution was recently ceded to Oyo State after an agreement was reached with Osun State to allow the institution to be solely owned by the Oyo State Government.

MOUTHPIECE NGR gathered that the alumni association led by Hon. Onilede Solomon met with Governor Seyi Makinde Thursday night to appeal, suspend renaming of LAUTECH.

The governor was in company of his Deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal and other government functionaries. 

A close source at the meeting disclosed that academic activities and other imbroglio would be a thing to be put to rest soon as efforts are now in top gear to restore parity.
