BIRTHDAY: Oke LEGACY offers scholarship to 3 orphans 

A chieftain of People’s Democratic Party and Member of Oyo Local Government Service Commission, Hon, John Adisa Oke LEGACY has offered scholarship to 3 orphans to further their education, MOUTHPIECE NGR reports. 

He gave the scholarship on Monday while marking his birthday anniversary at the Best LEGACY College of Education. 

Ibrahim, a 4-year old kid from Arowmole in Ogbomoso South local government was offered scholarship from Nursery to Tertiary level. While Azeez Mubarak, a 13-year-old from Alasa ward- Ogbomoso North, and a 13-year old Khalilullah Ismail from Saja/Isale Ora- Ogbomoso North were also offered scholarship from Primary to Tertiary level. 

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that the scholarship was an endowment by Oke LEGACY Foundation to support orphans acquire the best education which has been on for so many years. 

While speaking, the celebrant, Hon. John Oke said that the gesture would give opportunity to the children to further their education to tertiary level at Best LEGACY College of Education. 

He added that the selection is based on merit, as he ensure the children are orphans as required in the guidelines of the scholarship.

In his words, the Ogbomoso North PDP Chairman, Hon. George Ogunlade, who spoke on behalf of the party members, commended the philanthropic gesture of Honorable John Adisa Oke, describing him as “Baba Omo Ke ke ke”. 

Ogunlade suggested that other philanthropists ought to take a cue from what Oke has done, describing it as a good development to rescue our environment from poverty. 

While also speaking, the Chairman of Alasa ward, Kamorudeen Dauda recounted Dr. John Oke numerous scholarship and philanthropic activities in the past which according to him, the son of late Jimoh Isiaka of First-EndSARs-victim was also a beneficiary. 

Isiaka was shot dead by Nigerian Police Officer during EndSARS protest in October 2020 around Owode area of Ogbomoso.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr. John Oke appreciates the love and support that has been given to him and his family over the years. He promised that he will continue to support the development of Ogbomoso and Oyo state at large.
