Terrorists have guns, Nigerians should carry guns too – Yoruba chiefs support Zamfara govt

The council of the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland has commended the decision of the Zamfara State Government telling members of the public to obtain licensed guns in order to protect themselves.

MOUTHPIECE NGR had reported that the Zamfara State government has ordered the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Ayuba Elkanah to give licenses to persons residing in the State – those who are qualified to make use of guns for self-defense.

MOUTHPIECE NGR also observed that this decision came as a reaction to the growing rate of insecurity in the State.

The Gbonka Aare-Onakakanfo, Gboyega Adejumo via a statement, on Monday implored the governors in south west to emulate governor of Zamfara state.

The Yoruba council has warned south western governors not to tolerate the activities of terrorists “masquerading as bandits and kidnappers, killing innocent people at will”.

They said that Governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle has “literally opened the eyes of other governors across the country”.

“Taking up arms in self defence is a global practice that should be encouraged, once it is backed by the law.”

“There’s nothing bad if citizens take up arms to defend themselves”, the statement read.
