Nigerians’ should use traditional protection – Yoruba chief reacts to Ondo church attack

Chief Ifagbenusola Atanda, President of Ancient Religion Societies of African Descendants International Council (ARSADIC) has said that Nigerians should make use of traditional methods to fight insecurity in the country.

This came as his reaction to the recent attack on innocent worshippers in Owo, Ondo State.

The attack has claimed the lives of at least 40 people and survivors presently receiving treatment.

The Ifa priest made this awareness in a statement on Saturday.

He said “non conventional and traditional methods” are the only way to fight and drive away killers of innocent citizens.

The Asiwaju Awo Agbaye insisted that now is the best moment for Nigerians to strengthen security in their various communities, in order to send invaders and criminals away.

The chief said the citizens need to assist the government to fight insecurity in the country, as the government cannot alone provide security for lives and property of the people.

The priest said for all the attacks launched on the people, “we are all to be blamed because God has continued to give us signs of calamities ahead”.

“We have not done enough to prepare or show capacity to push intruders and aggressors away from our communities.”

The Asiwaju frowned at the manner bad elements, “who we believe are being driven by expansionist agenda”, have carried out murder over the years.

“They kidnap our people on the roads, in the sanctuary of religious places, the comfort of our homes and work fields but we are yet to stand and square up to them.”

The chief said God would not descend from heaven to protect us from “evil-minded and blood-thirsty monsters”.

“God has endowed us with a brain and knowledge of what to do to survive as people in all situations.”

The traditional chief gave an assurance that his organization would no longer tolerate criminals or allow them to “operate freely on our God-given land”.

He, on behalf of traditionalists solicited support from the people and leaders, to wage war against “these aggressive crooks the way our forefathers did to their forebears”.
