Nigeria owes you debt – Buhari tells Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar on his 80th birthday

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the former Head of State and Chairman of the National Peace Committee, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, on his 80th birthday, June 13, 2022.

The President celebrate Abubakar, reaffirming the historic roles he has played in uniting the country and enabling peace among the people.

Femi Adesina, one of the spokespersons of the president, publicized the birthday message, on Monday.

The president acknowledges the diligent service of the former head of state, and described him as one who has partaken in peace missions, in the country and beyond.

He praised Abubakar as an upholder of democracy across the continent.

He commended the Army General for his humility and for choosing the honorable path by facilitating the transition to democracy in 1999 and a peaceful handover process in 2015.

The President said ‘the nation owes Gen. Abubakar a debt of gratitude for always putting the interest of the country and its citizens first and working for the greater good of Nigeria and a better Africa.’
