Gunmen give residents 5 day ultimatum to vacate 5 Plateau villages, sack 30 Zamfara communities

Suleiman Abubakar Gumi, member representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, revealed that bandits had taken over more than 30 communities in Zamfara State.

He made this revelation while moving a motion on the necessity of sending more security agents to the affected communities in the state to combat the growing attacks.

Gumi recently revealed that bandits have launched attacks on several communities in the state.

He added that the bandits have killed 16 people, injured many, rustled cattle.

He also disclosed that the bandits have destroyed property and set police stations and food silos on fire.

While moving motion, he said there’s been no day an attack would not be launched on the area.

He revealed that the people residing in about 71 villages had absconded their homes; while farmers had fled their farms for safety.

He revealed that the unknown gunmen had imposed levy on residents of the communities and demanded for ransom from those they abducted.

He said the unknown gunmen have issued quit notice to people residing in Sabon Zama, Gindin Dutse, Anguwan Tsohon Soldier, Anguwan Yuhana and Anguwan Mangu villages in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Those residing in the areas confessed that some masked bandits invaded the communities and ordered them to either vacate within five days or prepare for war.

Ubale Pinau, who’s living in Pinau, told newsmen yesterday that the bandits have threatened to launch attack on the area, advising them to leave or else face the war.

He said many have started running to Pinau and other bigger towns for succor.

Major Ishaku Takwa, the spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, said the information of the quit notice has not reached him.
