Booda Sunday Adeyemo Foundation on Saturday awarded certificates to over 200 students who completed six month training of various Skill Acquisitions during an exhibition program held at Ogbomoso South Secretariat, Arowmole, MOUTHPIECE NGR reports.

The programme tagged “Operation Má jókòó sílé lásán” was organized for residents and indigenous students on strike across Ogbomoso zone.

Our correspondent gathered that the training focused on skills such as photography, cake baking and decoration, Art and craft, Bag making, Barbing, Phone repair, Male/Female fashion design, Streetwears production, ICTs among others at Ogbomoso South secretariat, Arowomole.

Speaking at the programme, the president BOODA Sunday Adeyemo hinged the necessity of the programme to properly engage and enhance productivity of the university undergraduates who have been home idlely due to ASUU strike.

Recall that MOUTHPIECE NGR had reported that ASUU embarked on strike February 14th due to Federal government’s inability to meet their demands such as agreement to 2009 MOU negotiation, deployment of UTAS, payment of EAA among others.

He added that youth unemployment remained one of the greatest challenges of the society and there was a need to tackle it through skill acquisition.

“We are aimed at engaging our students who have been idle due to strike in a bid to enable them to be self-employed and be self-reliant.

“Ultimately, the program would not only engage the unemployed and idle students, but also end all social vices prevalent in our region.

He advised beneficiaries of the training to use the knowledge acquired at the training judiciously and apply the skills to improve their lives.

“My advice to the beneficiaries is that they should not go home and dump whatever that have trained them about, they should continue to practice because as they practice they gain much, whenever they have challenges they can get back to us and we can help them, ” he added.

Some of the beneficiaries, Sam and Jide, on behalf of others, thanked the foundation for organizing the training to engage them positively.

Among dignitaries present at the programme included Ogbomoso South PDP Chairman, Apt. Moses Olamoyegun; Ogb. South PDP Secretary, Mr. BOSUN.

Others were; Rev. Peter Olaleye, President, OYCF; the VP and also, Dr. Adewale Aremu from Physics Department, LAUTECH.
