BREAKING: Gombe governor’s adviser, Dijatu Bappay, two others resign

The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress APC assumed a curious twist on Wednesday following the resignation letter of the Special adviser to Governor Inuwa Yahaa of Gombe State on Social Investment, Mrs Dijatu Bappah and former governorship aspirant and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Jamiu Isiyaku Gwamna.

Mouthpiece NGR reports that Gwamna resigned his membership of the party while Dijatu resigned her position as Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment.

Dijatu in a resignation letter dated February 1st 2022 in which a copy was sighted by Mouthpiece NGR correspondent explained that her resignation was with immediate effect.

Dijatu who declined reasons for her action told the governor that she had terminated her service in the letter addressed to him.

This was coming barely two days after an ex-commissioner in the government for health, Dr Ahmed Gana quit the ruling All Progressives Congress and joined the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

However, in his submission, Gwamna who is nursing governorship ambition in the 2023 general elections said he made the decision after wide consultation with his family, political associates and supporters.

One of his supporters who spoke with our correspondent alleged that APC leadership in the state has taken side with the incumbent governor of the state Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya.

Isah Kaltungo said in some local government areas visited by Governor Yahaya, stakeholders and party executives endorsed the governor for second term.

According to him, that was an indication that the party would not provide fair playing ground for all governorship aspirants in the next primary elections.

At the time of filling this report, the former APC chieftain is yet to join any other party.
