Police arrests woman for child trafficking in Ibadan

Mouthpiece NGR reports that the Oyo state Police Command has arrested a middle-aged woman, Abosede Omololaover alleged child trafficking in Ibadan.

The woman was arrested by some passerbys on Sunday.

She was handed over to the police when she could not give satisfactory explanation over the parents of the children in her possession.

It was learnt that the woman was found in possession of five children whose age runs between four and thirteen at Bodija area of Ibadan.

It was gathered that the woman claimed she runs a charity home.

She, however, said that she is using the children to beg.

The children were thereafter, rescued from where the woman was using them to beg for alms.

Some of the children said they attend Saint Michael Primary School, Idi Ayunre, Ibadan while two others said they were from Ago Iwoye in Ogun State.

After several efforts to know the whereabout of the parents of the children failed, the woman was then detained by police officers from Bodija Police Station.

The five children were kept at a motherless babies home pending further investigations.

Efforts to get a reaction from the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso proved to be abortive.

Several calls put through his mobile phone were not successful.

Messages sent to him, asking him for a reaction have not been replied as at the time of filing this report on Sunday.
