Sultan visits Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland

THE Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has condoled with the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, over the death of one of his wives, Alhaja Halimat Akinola.

Sultan Abubakar, during a visit to Alhaji Akinola at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday, described the death as shocking and painful but urged the Aare Musulumi to take solace in Allah as the Giver and Taker of life.

He prayed Allah to rest the soul of the deceased and grant the Akinola family fortitude to bear the loss.

The Sultan had arrived in Ibadan since Tuesday for the performance of some public functions within the city and beyond.

Other personalities present during Sultan’s visit to Akinola include the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul Ganiy Abubakri Agbotomokekere; President, Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) and Deputy President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Rasak Oladejo; Executive Secretary, Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Professor Muslih Yahyah;  Professor Kamil Koyejo Oloso and Dr Femi Abbas.

Others are the Balogun Mumini of Yorubaland, Alhaji Rashid Adesokan; the Grand Mufti of Ibadanland, Dr Baari Adetunji; the Asiwaju Adinni of Oyo State, Alhaji Mutiu Oladejo (Onimalu); Chairman, Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS), Alhaji Kunle Sanni; Chairman, Aare-Musulumi-in-Council, Dr Kola Hammed; Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale and Dean, Faculty of Arts of the university, Professor Afis Oladosu.
