Court orders immediate release of El-Zakzaky, wife

Kaduna State High Court has freed the embattled leader of the outlawed slamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakyzaky and his wife, Zeenah.

The islamic schorlar and preacher and his wive have been in detention since December 2015  and standing trial in the court for the past four years.

Justice Gideon Kudara,  in a ruling upheld the no case submission filed by his counsel, Femi Falana, SAN arguing that the witnesses presented by the prosecution counsel were unable to establish any offence against Sheik El-Zakyzaky.

The Kaduna State Government had engaged in a running legal battle with the leader of the proscribed Islamic group on the allegation culpable homicide, disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly among others.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria  on Friday said over 1,886 children have been orphaned and 200 members arrested since the December 12, 2015 massacre in Zaria.

Recall that in 2016 a federal high court in Abuja restored the fundamental human rights of the embattled Sheikh and his wife and set him free.
