Who is Even Advising PMB?: The Nigeria Police Institution is in Shambles- Bello Olamilekan Kabir

  1. Even if PMB was advised wrongly with respect to the extension of stay-of-office, of the supposedly-retired Inspector General of Police (IGP), IGP Adamu Mohammed.
  2. I think PMB should have been properly tutored on what the law speaks, through his Vice-President or Minister Festus Keyemo, or very brilliant Minister Babatunde Raji Fashola, on what the law says about the extension. But it seems the President is no longer the alpha and Omega of Aso-Rock or he doesn’t listened to advice.
  3. Just like it is morally wrong to nominate the Retired Service Chiefs for Ambassadorial appointment it is constitutionally wrong to extend the stay of office of Mohammed Adamu as IGP.
  4. The Presidency gave reason for the extension; “it will allow us to make frantic investigation and proper selection of a competent successor” says the Presidency. But they goofed, because the police service commission threw to public the profile of the supposed-retired police chief when he was appointed IGP about a year ago, where when he will be retired was also published.
  5. The implications of the no.4 above, is that the government is not ignorant of the retired date and month of IGP Adamu Mohammed, so, they ought to have been making the secret search months before now on who the competent successor will be, instead of the extension.
  6. The above points further show how poor Nigeria Institutions and system are and a case study is the Nigeria Police institution that is in shambles. Recall, that, the former UK FBI Chief, was named FBI-Chief-Elect 3months before the end of tenure of his Predecessor. This is what brings about lost of trust between the government and the governed. PMB should understand, he needs to be more of democratically-driven President, he should understand he’s no more on Military Uniform.
