Strike: Only Makinde, VC can address our grievances— LAUTECH Workers

The workers of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso have stated that only Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Micheal Olufikayo Ologunde can address their grievances.

The workers made this known on Tuesday while protesting at the senate building over 8months salaries arrears and other demands.

Recall Mouthpiece NGR had reported last-Saturday that members of the Senior and Non-Academic Staff of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso will on Monday begin a peaceful protest over eight demands.

This online news platform understands that the announcement was made after a congress of the institution’s Joint Action Committee.

The agenda of the protest includes:

  1. Payment of 8 months salaries arrears
  2. Payment of 13 months cooperative societies deductions
  3. Payment of balance of 68hours Earned allowances
  4. Payment of Promotion arrears from 2012/2013
  5. Immediate Constitution of LAUTECH Governing council
  6. Immediate implementation of promotions
  7. Implementation and payment of Minimum wage and arrears

Mouthpiece NGR reports that workers of the institution stormed senate building at the early hours of today after locking students affairs office, library and other offices.

It was gathered that the Vice Chancellor was compelled to address the Joint Action Committee infront of the building.

Speaking with our correspondent, the SANU-JAC chairman, Comrade Alesinloye reiterated that only Governor Makinde can address their grievances.

Alesinloye further hinted that JAC is meeting the state government on Thursday and that the outcome of the meeting will determine their next line of action.
