BREAKING: Uneasy calm as LAUTECH denies rumor of Covid-19

The management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso has described recent report of Covid-19 case on campus as untrue. 

Unconfirmed reports at the early hour of Tuesday indicated that a student of the institution whose identity yet to be known by Mouthpiece NGR had contracted Coronavirus.

The report stated further that the school Health Centre have been shut down and classes for lectures being cancelled. 

But reacting, the management through the Director of Medical Service LAUTECH, Dr Sola Onawumi said it is rumor and a figment of the imagination of mischievous people, who are out to disturb the peaceful resumption of the University.

Onawumi in a statement made available to Mouthpiece NGR said it has come to the notice of the University management committee of a rumour going round the University community that a COVID 19 case, treated recently has died.

According to him: “The male final year students reported sick on sunday 31th, January 2021 with fever, cough and breathlessness.”

– He was admitted, and treated as a Lobar Pneumonia. 

– When he became stable, he was referred to University Teaching hospital, Ibadan for further evaluations to rule out COVID 19.

-At Ibadan, Patient samples was taken on Monday with the promise that the result will be available by Thursday 4th, February 2021.

In conclusion, there is no confirmed case of COVID 19 in the University Health Centre. The case in question is being followed up on a daily basis. Update shall be offered soonest.
