Encomium as Orire LG boss empowers 500 constituents (PHOTOS)

It was a moment of joy for the people of Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, when the Chairperson, Caretaker Committee of the local government; Hon. Lydia Bankole empowered them with vocation tools and other items.

The event which was held at the main council, Ikoyi-Ile witnessed the distribution of various empowerment items and cash gifts which would make the beneficiaries employers of labour.

Items distributed included 16 sewing machine, 16 generators, 16 hand-dryers, 16 grinding machines, and 16 Hand clippers.

Others were 48 Coolers, 70 fertilizers, 70 sprayers while cash gifts were given to elderly people including youth, disable and widows.

Speaking at the accasion, Hon. Lydia Bankole said it was the intention of the Makinde-led administration to boost food production and to provide a wide range of social services and public amenities towards the improvement of conditions of living through capacity building, education and agriculture.

Hon. Lydia noted that the empowerment is borne out of the economy of the state and the need for the people to fend for themselves without recourse to begging or waiting on the government and political office holders for handouts, which will contribute to the growth of National Gross Domestic Products.

According to her, “The purpose of today’s gathering is to tool the line of his Excellency, by caring for the welfare of our farmers and unemployed youth by empowering them within our own capacity towards ameliorating the adverse effect of economic hardship they might be facing”.

“Farming is our major work, and for farmers not to engage in social vices, we need to equip them with necessary implements and other farm imputes”.

She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials so as to become employers of labour in future.

While thanking Governor Seyi Makinde for his firm support in making the occasion a reality, Hon Bankole equally urged tax payers to support this administration by paying all taxes and other dues by cooperating with government officials to enable the government to do more.

The event which turned out a carnival of sort was heralded by the arrival of party bigwigs and top government functionaries including the liaison officer representing Ogbomoso North, South and Orire Federal Constituency, Hon. Ganiyu Laaro, the PDP Chairman of Orire Local government, Alhaji Isiaka Owonikoko.

Others present were former Commissioner for finance, budget and planning, Hon. Johnson Adebayo Bankole, former member Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Idowu Akanbi, Royal fathers, and host of others.
