PDP Southwest: “Fayose and his cohorts are still living in a fool’s paradise”— Makinde’s aide

As the crises in the PDP South West deepens, members are left aghast by the confusion that has set in within the ranks of the party.

It would seem that with every breaking day, a new mischief rears its head. Indeed the battle for the control of the South West presently officially held by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is really heating up as the nation moves towards the 2023 elections.

In the thick of the battle ground is, ex-Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose who is being accused of fanning the embers of discord in his bid to escape the EFCC by delivering the zone to his APC ally, Bola Tinubu whose ambition to be Nigeria’s next president, is not hidden.

Newest spanner thrown in the wheel of progress of the Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s national reconcilation committee, is what has been termed “an action by a band of dissidents clearly in direct confrontation of the party’s constitution.”

The bone of contention this week is a decision of the faction to recall five suspended Ondo PDP Chieftains.

It would be recalled that Ayo Fayose’s faction had appointed members of the South West Caretaker Committee and made his erstwhile media aide, Lere Olayinka, Zonal Director, Media and Publicity, a move which was largely rejected and condemned by top members of the party in the zone.

Coming on the heel of the unconstitutional appointments is the nullification of the said members, in a statement signed by Lere Olayinka.

One man who has been speaking out against the seeming misnomer going on in the PDP South West Zone is Dare Adeleke, a stanch member of the party and Chairman, Oyo Pacesetters Transport Company.

Reacting to the nullification of the suspension which was imposed by the State Working Committee, Adeleke says the suspension stands, insisting that the so-called care taker committee is illegal: “Their suspension stands!”, He emphasised.

According to him: “The illegal care taker committee has no power. The self acclaimed spokesperson is talking from his unreasonable and insane point of reasoning. It is clear that Ayo Fayose and his cohorts are still living in a fool’s paradise. After they worked against the party, they still have the guts to use their illegal meeting to pronounce the bona fide state EXCO decisions illegal.

They are exhibiting ignorance of the constitution and I assure them that they have failed”.

The Pacesetters boss wonders why people who clearly worked against the party in the last Edo and Ondo elections, would go against genuine leaders of the party:

“These are the people who worked against the party and they Ondo State Leadership have displayed what constitution empowers and permits them to do”.

“If Fayose and his band of traitors feel they can parade their illegal spokesperson and force him on the party, they will meet us soonest”, he notes.

The suspended members are:

Chief Oyedele Ibini, Hon. Lad Ojomo, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, Hon. Rasheed Elegbeleye and Hon. Ebenezer Alabi. They were suspended by the Ondo State Working Committee of the party December 22, 2020.
