No fewer than 2,000 members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogbomoso South Local Government on Tuesday defected to the People’s Democratic Party.

Mouthpiece NGR reports that the new entrants to PDP concluded their defection at methodist primary school where the Local Government Boss, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy addressed them.

It was gathered that the decampees who cut across 10 political wards in the Local Government were led by Prince Akintoye Simeon.

Speaking on their behalf, Akintoye Simeon said they dumped APC for PDP in recognition of examplary leadership demonstrated by Governor Seyi Makinde in the state. And also to support the Caretaker chairman of Ogbomoso South LG,Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy who they described as a man of integrity and trust worthy.

“No need for anyone from Ogbomoso South to remain in APC, because  we were neglected, impoverished and ravaged during APC’s government, we can’t point out to any meaningful project executed by APC admistration in Ogbomoso South LG. During our tenure a lot of civil servants died, LAUTECH nearly went into comatose, the situation was bad”.

He further said that the defection marked the death of their former party in the local government area, saying that the people decided to follow light and truth, represented by state governor, whom they said showed the leadership style that has brought peace, unity and development across the state.

Akintoye along with other ward leaders, assured the Caretaker Chairman of their total loyalty and promised never to return to Egypt in their political journey.

On his part, the Caretaker Chairman, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy said: “This is the most important day in the history of this party, the PDP for receiving enmasse decampes into our party”.

According to Hon Oyedokun, “anyone in this state who wants to work together with Engr Seyi Makinde’s led administration should join hands with the omititun agenda.

He assured them that they had made the best decision and that PDP will ensure everyone was given the same treatment and operate at the same level playing ground.
