NANS presidential aspirant advocates campaign against rape

NANS presidential aspirant, Alabi Kayode Alopay has urged Nigerians especially youth to begin campaign against rape. 

In a statement made available to Mouthpiece NGR on Wednessday, Mr Alabi said the rate at which rape cases is being reported these days is really worrisome, disturbing and calls for urgent and serious attention on the part of those at the helm of affairs in ensuring that certain apparatus are put in place to curb the disturbing increase and to also ensure that those involved in this nefarious act are brought to book in order to serve as detterrent to others. 

In his words, “Personally, it is displeasing and unpleasant to read that some persons are into this shameful act and it shows how low we have gone as a people.”

“The country today is in a very bad situation that calls for critical review by concerned stakeholders. It is high-time government at all time ensure that rape is criminalised beyond the life sentence as contained in the criminal code and to also ensure that a Constitutional review is done to correct the position of the law which states that rape victims cannot report rape cases any moment after two months of the occurrence.”

“As a Presidential aspirant in NANS, I call on all persons to seriously involve in the campaign against gender-based violence and all other ills in the society . these days is really worrisome and disturbing and it also calls for urgent and serious attention on the part of those at the helm of affairs in ensuring that certain apparatus are put in place to curb the disturbing increase and to also ensure that those involved in this nefarious act are brought to book in order to serve as detterrent to others.”
