SALARY: “Northerners have been paid, Southwest not since August 2019”— Prison workers raises alarm

Some workers employed into Nigerian Correctional Service in 2019 said they now resort to begging just to feed themselves and their families. 

Mouthpiecengr.com exclusively gathered that at least all workers from Southwest that gained employment since August 2019 are owed closed to 10 months salary. 

Sources who spoke in confidence said only the Prison Workers from the zone are affected despite working 12 hours a day. 

 All Northerners have been paid, while in Ogun state, we were paid one month, another source added. 

The workers wondered why those from Southwest alone were not fully paid just as they urge the government to treat every one equally. 

They insisted that they deserved full payment of salary like other workers in the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The workers are requesting for the attention of Minster of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Controller General of Prison to come to their aid. 

They said “Our major problem is IPPS who refused to pay our salary despite the fact that they have done the capturing since August  2019.”

“The IPPS just doing what they like.

“Those that were paid one month only in January, 2020 was yet to get any Salary till now. And the one they paid was highly mutilated. 

 We may protest anytime from now, “they threatened.
