LAUTECH at 30th: VC, Limo, Hon. Olatunji, Bendel, Arexzie, Others, shares experience

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) is a tertiary institution located in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. The university enrolls over 30,000 students and employs more than 3,000 workers including contract staff.

Before, it was known as OSUTECH until Osun state was carved out of Oyo state in 1993. It has its teaching hospitals located in Osun state while another one was founded during ownership crises, Mouthpiece NGR reports.

The university is jointly owned and currently being managed by Oyo and Osun state government.

It offers academic opportunities in technological oriented fields. Academic programmes offered by the university span different fields of specialization including Engineering, Pure and Applied sciences, Agricultural Sciences, health sciences and environmental sciences.

Today, the university clocks 30th. She has been competing as one of the best state university in Nigeria and was acknowledged the best in 2002, 2003,.

The university was also announced as the best state university in 2018 by Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) in-spite of repeated workers strike that held down academic and other activities in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Wishing her Happy Birthday, some Alumni members, students, and officials took their time to share experience how the university has prepared them to face challenges and how it has transformed and shaped their lives.

Yomi Dr IBB Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, hmm, glory to God, finally clocks 30.

Lautech have been a popular institution in the country, days back when am in dire need of admission then, I made up my mind to study at Unilorin, until my dad convince me to choose lautech, and ever since I never regret.

The institution develop me all round academically, socially, and spiritually.

You can’t school here and become irrelevant in the society, all the school products have come across are doing wonderfully well outside the world, everything about lautech is discipline and training.

Dazzling into world of politics, I gained vast experience about leadership and human relation management.

May Almighty God continually progress the school among her counterparts.

Long live Lautech!

Long live Oyo state !!

Long live Osun state!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to LAUTECH’s Agboola Progress⁩ who just got selected as the Student Ambassador for the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Northumberland House, United kingdom.

This is so outstanding as there are less than five universities in Nigeria with student in this position. Let’s wish him well.

As a former Union President, I faced a lot of challenges while fighting for the freedom of students. I was suspended and witch-hunted but to the glory of God came out strong. This has actually prepared me for life challenges, triumphing and over coming quandaries. LAUTECH made me. I really appreciate the training to face challenges that I went through while in school which eventually turn me to be a better person.

LAUTECH is a citadel of learning where giants are made through the rigourous and all inclusive exposure that the school offers.

LAUTECH, am proud of you, you’ve contributed immensely to the development of this country. May God be with the entire LAUTECH community both home and abroad.

*However* I will like the school to look into the activities of the political school of thoughts of the students as it’s always being tainted with rivalries which have made the students to shift focus from the main purpose of being sent to school.

Long live LAUTECH!!!

Long live Oyo/Osun!!!!

Long live Nigeria!!!

Dear LAUTECH,

*You showed me that the world is full of possibilities.*

I am where I am, and who I am because you encouraged me to go forth and explore, to be fearless and unapologetic of myself. Oftentimes I forget just how many opportunities you have given me, until someone asks me about my life experiences. For everything I have today, I’m grateful to you dear Lautech.

*You believed in my creativity*.

So much so, that now my work has been published on various media platforms. No Journalism or Mass communication department, yet you you made a fine Journalist and writer out of me. The training at UCJ and our weekly GA at Highrise was not only my sanctuary, but the mentorship of teachers, senior colleagues and continual support taught me to value my skills. One of my proudest moments was having my work showcased in a national daily before graduating from LAUTECH. The importance you placed on the self-reliance allowed me to believe in my own talents which transcended university life. It wasn’t just your culture, but also your teachers, who set exceptional standards, who affirmed that focusing on self development would lead me to successes.

*Your curriculum gave me a life skill I will always treasure.*

The flexibility I was given meant more responsibility and it’s how I learned to be exceptionally organized. Not to say that everyone needs to know what they want to do in life right away, but staying organized made finding my passions easy. Looking back, it was draining trekking -under the exceptional Ogbomoso sun- home every day from school after a day of classes, and multiple extra curricular activities. For me, it was just a sacrifice for good grades, but this prepared me for the even larger workload and schedule I took on in university. We are each given 24 hours a day and life is often seen as the balancing act between work and play. However, we tend to forget that progress in life comes from time allocated for self development, which is an added effort we have to strive for.

*You advocated instilling empathy in us*.

It wasn’t just about volunteering hours at clubs and associations. It was more about making us accountable for our actions and creating the desire to want to make a difference. You gave me and every student the platform to serve humanity and contribute our quota to global development. You gave us the chance to grow, develop and evolve. You made champions and global leaders out of us

*You’ve seen me through love*

Through you, I made amazing friends. Sweet, bright and driven individuals who both remind me of the other, are always in remembrance – missing them right now is a token to not take anything for granted. With that said, I’ve made lifelong friends at LAUTECH, too numerous to mention. Friendship that still stands and impactful till today.

Lastly, thank you for teaching me to believe in myself. I don’t believe in taking no for an answer, or being afraid of asking for something I want. I’ve learned over the years that no one besides you can make you do anything, including attaining success.

For the good, bad and ugly memories, THANK YOU LAUTECH.

LAUTECH is a very welcoming place and indeed a great Citadel of knowledge.

Learning in a school known for “Strike actions” was very challenging but trust me,i had my rewards as I chose not to remain stagnant,my eyes were opened to so many things during my undergraduate days which are directly and indirectly helping me in this new phase.

Based on the level of technicality and difficulty of their tests and exams,I must say that it was a real challenge to me being a graduate of the school,I wouldn’t have survived it if there was nothing like “Determination to make it big” in my dictionary. The school really pushed me beyond my limits in terms of studying and assimilation capacity.

I had lots of fun too,I attended dinner nights, seminars and so many events organized on campus. Anything you want from the school is what you get but I must confess that the work load is very high and you must be smart to be able to scale through effectively.

Life in LAUTECH was a great experience, thank God I made the best out of it.

LAUTECH shall be great!!!

On this occasion of our citadel of learning 30th years anniversary,I pray for long life for the school and I wish the management a wonderful tenure.

Though COVID-19 effects is felt in all sectors of government now ,I wish and hope for a Lautech without strike and delay in academic pursuit.

Like several others, I was made and shaped here and I gathered a lot of experience; the ruggedness, broaden horizon in my course of study- though it was tough- coupled with myriads of experience gained; leadership vis-a-vis followership and lots to mention a few.

Great Lautech! I’m always proud of you!

My university experiences thus far have been amazing. I have learned and experienced so many new things and I am still discovering all the opportunities that university offers me. LAUTECH is a very welcoming place, and from the first day, I felt at home here.

The depth and detail of what we are leaning is far beyond my high school experience. It is just amazing to think that even the tiniest details on the subatomic level can have such a huge impact.

Lautech motto(Excellence, Integrity & Service ) introduces me to so many new concepts that changes our view of the world.

*LAUTECH @ 30*

I have spent a lot of time looking back, and for good reason. What an exciting time the past years has been. My university experiences thus far have been amazing. I have learned and experienced so many new things in such a short period of time, and it has gone by so fast.

The pride in every student of my Alma Mata comes from a blend of enviable academic excellence, daring unionism and great extracurricular activities. Lautech is an institution that builds capacity in her students, we always see ourselves above others wherever we found ourselves.

My experience won’t be complete without talking about the incessant strike actions that come up every now and then. Back in the days, brothers, sisters and cousins who have been there will tell you to add at least two years to your stay once you tell them you have picked LAUTECH as your choice in JAMB. Anything could cause strike in LAUTECH, ASUU, NASU and most common is the noncompliance of the two owner states to meet up with their responsibilities on the institution. Even at that, we are proud of our university because the institution has never lack behind when they meet with their counterparts in different competitions.

Something else worth mentioning is the type of expensive life some students live on campus, all around the school premises you will see students rolling in their exotics cars, that alone makes everywhere full of fun, places likes hotels, eateries and gardens are places you will love to visit.

on a final note I have to emphatically say this that LAUTECH has build many to become a men of self confidence, the student union practiced there has exposed us to the community politics and that alone keep us going up till where we are today. Wherever you go, once people hear you graduated or you are a student of LAUTECH, there is this special look on us that always make us feel special, not because of anything but series of achievements that has been recorded for the institution.

Thanks to my Alma Mata for making me whole, thy children celebrate your 30th birthday, with all indebtedness, I bow to thee, my Alma mater. May you keep shinning and may your flower never wither. God bless LAUTECH.

LAUTECH @30

I congratulate the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Olufisayo Ologunde, the Management, the entire Staffs, Alumni, the Students and the University Community as whole on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Lautech.

There is no gainsaying that 30 years is enough to evaluate the status of a University and possible projection ahead. Having been adjudged as the Best State University on several occasions, the second best University of Technology in the Country and several feats achieved by the Students which had given the university both local and International recognition, one can boldly say that the University is destined for greatness and the next couple of decades will be ranked among one Of the finest and Best University in Africa and the World at Large.

No doubt, the University had experienced some challenges and turbulent stages recently, which tends to affects the Academic Calendars, we are confident that with the determination and dedication of the present leadership and Management team, the Supports and Encouragement from the Visitors as well as strong collaboration of the Students, Lautech will surpass her equals.

I want to congratulate fellow Alumni Members for the rare privilege of having Lautech as our Alma Mata. We are definitely the Ambassadors of this great Institution in our respective Fields. Its high time that each and every Alumni Members started giving back to the University that produced and nurture us to greatness. Only Lautech Alumni can make Lautech better.
