You Can Not Be Trusted With Oyo State Funds, Group Tells Makinde

An international socio cultural group, tagged ‘Ibadan United in Diaspora’, on Tuesday said that the governor elect in Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde was a direct beneficiary of the Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke oil scam that brought the country on her kneels. “He can not be trusted with the Oyo state funds”.

The group issued the statement at the weekend in North America through his coordinator, Mr. Remi Babatunde, according to reports.
Mr Babatunde who noted that Makinde told the whole world himself of how he used to collect money from the late dictator through Major Al-Mustapha during a debate organized by a radio station in Ibadan, added that he was a protégé of Late Gen. Sani Abacha.
He said “students of history will remember vividly how Abacha governed the country and the maltreatment of Yoruba leaders. While eminent Nigerians were fighting for the country to have democracy and good governance, Makinde was busy collecting money. He is a wheeler dealer who cannot be trusted with Oyo state funds”.
The coordinator said that Mr. Makinde is looking for ways to revive his ailing business, adding that the group is challenging the PDP gubernatorial candidate to make public the state of his business and the welfare of its workers.
He disclosed that Makinde’s business, Makon Engineering and Technical Services Limited, was almost shut for tax evasion by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) few years back, calling on Makinde to show evidence of N1.5bn tax returns he claims to have paid during a gubernatorial debate to the whole world.
There was a report of how Makinde defaulted in paying N26m tax in 2016 and his company escaped being shut, stating that Makinde should rather tell the people the truth of being a wheeler dealer instead of masquerading as a saint, industrialist and self-acclaimed philanthropist, “he added.
