Opinion: Alao- Akala And The BBC Interview, Who Pays The Price ?

By Balogun Ridwan

At this crucial time or otherwise a selling frenzy of political activities, where expressions, body languages and gestures of the contestants are making daily business, at every respective working places and joints that can accommodate public debate.
Even, the gladiators among themselves, their utterances become gold and egg. For the period of campaigns and outreach to electorates, their word becomes selling point for media houses.
Their statement and actions is however, expected to be guided and couth whenever there is need to address issues and matter arising, within their political party structure or those that are tailored with public sensory.
As a political activist, I believe there will always be a need in striking the balance, when unruly and lawlessness is taking misplaced priority at the expense of common senses and the purview of  grand norms, regardless of whose ox is gored, let the nose of perpetrators be touched, when there is cause to fight for righteousness, sanity and rectitude, when there is need to adorn the fact and toe the path of rescuing the tenets of humanity.

The recent political stunts among parties in the state is enough to shot a show, alignment of forces, trading of words, wooing of interest and expressional toasting are all expensive features in the ongoing filming, that stomached with personal fulfilment and thriving of interest in favouring the choices and desires of each of the candidates.
The oppositions are seem to be more proactive than the ruling party, infact their preparedness appear to be regrouping of political soldiers, coalition of forces and merging of the  political value in attacking the 4years-old empire of APC.
 *Alao-Akala and the BBC Interview:*
The recent defection of Olamiju Alao-Akala, the son of the former governor of Oyo state and the ADP Oyo guber candidate in the forthcoming election,  Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, from APC to join the political party of his biological father ADP, has been perceived to bear nothing but a daredevil result.
Olamiju who was the elective chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, came into power in May 2018, under the platform of APC, has just left the party to join ADP. His decision, as many have been saying actually attracted a dear punishment, as the party just suspended him and took his deputy to the position of authority.

This led to mixed reactions from members of the public, as many maintained that, procedure which led to his removal is faulty and calls for legal checking.
This has made the political serene of the state turns polarized. Heated argument and verbal assault took over the stage between the ruling party APC, his father and all other guber candidate of opposition parties.
The aftermath crisis ensued has made the inferno to rise above the wall. Alao-akala who came up to condemn the unchecked removal of his son,  failed to root for justice through the path of polity and norms. The clip of the interview granted by BBC-Yoruba is remarked with outrageousness. The manner at which he reacted has been criticised by many individuals and some statement credited to him is violent and fierce, capable of inciting endless crisis and mayhem.
Such statement is condemnable in its totality and Alao-Akala was not addressing the press, as expected of him, being a political leader and an elderly statesman throughout the length of the clip. His statement is enough for brewing attack over the purported removal of his son, Olamiju as LG chairman. Baba should be cautioned and be more guided when talking at this crucial political time. O le wu o! (It’s Dangerous!)
