2019: Saraki Reacts to Kwara Central Election Results

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has finally reacted to the election result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, MouthpieceNG reports.
Saraki in a statement made available to Newsmen on Monday debunked the report that he congratulated his opponent, Dr. Yahaya Oloriegbe, the Senator-elect for Kwara Central.

MouthpieceNG had reported that the APC candidate, who contested against Mr Saraki in Saturday’s National Assembly election, won the Kwara Central Senatorial District with a slight margin.
The senate president in a statement on Monday urged party supporters to disregard the report which claimed Mr Saraki conceded defeat to Mr Oloriegbe.
He said “The position of the Saraki camp will be communicated to the public later today (Monday).’’
“The public should disregard any fictitious statements being issued and shared on WhatsApp. Our position on the election will be communicated later today.
“In the interim, the APC should stop issuing statements congratulating itself and ascribing it to our camp,’’ he said.
Below is the congratulatory message which Saraki has debunked.
The statement reads in full,
“I hereby congratulate Dr. Yahaya Oloriegbe, the Senator-elect for Kwara Central. The result of this election is indeed a painful one, but old empires disappear so the new ones may emerge and hopefully reemerge again.”
“At this level, we have steered the affair of Kwarans to where we were able to, let others take over from here. This is indeed the message our people are passing across in this symbolic moment.”
“I have no regret whatsoever. I have served my state and my country to the best of my ability. I, therefore, thank all Saraki lovers across Kwara state and our nation at large for their unwavering support. This is certainly not the end. I will always do everything in my capacity to better the lot of Kwarans.”
“Once again, congratulations to Dr. Yahaya Oloriegbe for his victory at the poll.”
