Governorship : Oyo State Is In Safe Hands If Lanlehin Elected- CCII

The Central Council Of Ibadan Indigenes ( CCII ), has declared that should senator Olufemi Lanlehin ( SOLAN) eventually win the coming 2019 governorship poll, then Oyo state is in safe hands”.
Mouthpieceng reliably gathered that the statement made by CCII to Lanlehin was because of numerous contributions to the peace, progress and stability of Ibadan, and the good will he commands among the people and Ibadan’s prime indigenes association.
The ADC governorship candidate, Lanlehin was later presented calabash by the Chairman, 2019 Ibadan week planning committee as a reward and commendation for his contribution.
“This statement made last week by the Chairman, 2019 Ibadan Week Planning Committee, Asiwaju Nurudeen Akinade, was the high point of a courtesy call on Senator Lanlehin by members of the Committee.
The delegation, which also had in attendance Chief Dipo Gbenro, Barrister Oladepo Kazeem and Comrade Laide Gesinde, Planning Committee Vice Chairman and Secretary, as well as the CCII Social Secretary, respectively, was as Asiwaju Akinade put it, “to appreciate the contributions of Senator Lanlehin to Ibadan”.
The Committee Chairman who had earlier recalled Senator Lanlehin’s sparkling contributions, especially to the construction of the Olubadan Palace, praised him for being the politician with the highest contribution to the palace construction project, and maintained that serving Ibadan, which hitherto had been deemed a “thankless job”, was now one “where service is rewarded”.
Citing the example of Ibadan’s recognition of erstwhile president, Chief Bode Amao during his 80th birthday celebration, Akinade noted that the current crop of Ibadan leadership has changed the narrative to ensure Ibadan appreciates her own.
“Senator Lanlehin, we remember, was of immense help to the Committee constituted to oversee housing enumeration in Ibadan, which was a strong basis for the census”, he said. And we remember also, how you hosted us in Abuja during the presidency of Chief Bayo Oyero”, he added.
Asiwaju Akinade, who said his team, which planned the 2018 Ibadan Week, was given the 2019 assignment too, in the spirit of “reward for hard work is more work”, solicited Senator Lanlehin’s support in the realization of the committee’s objectives.
The committee, on behalf of the CCII President General, Chief Yemi Soladoye, later on presented Senator Lanlehin with a beautifully decorated calabash. Explaining the rationale behind the gift, Chief Gbenro, a renowned Yoruba Language expert, alluded to the Yoruba proverb that as the calabash’s floats on water, even if pressed hard to drown, and the spirogyra does similarly float, Senator Lanlehin would continue leading the pack, at all times, and in all situations.
Responding, Senator Lanlehin appreciated the committee, and indeed, the CCII, for her efforts towards the development of Ibadanland, pledging his contributions to the successful commemoration of Ibadan Week come March, 2019.
Giving the vote of thanks, Chief Gbenro, who offered deep traditional prayers, added that by next year, the prayer is that Ibadan Week Celebrations would meet Senator Lanlehin in Government House.
Also on the entourage was Akogun Segun Obe, Chairman Information and Communications Technology Committee, Alh Hammed Yussuf, veteran journalist and Publisher, Ibadan News and Mr. Gboyega Oyewo, CCII CSO. Others included, Chief (Mrs) Egbedokun, Deaconess Toyin Adeyanju, Mrs. Aderike Ojeyinka and Mr. Bukunmi Olugbade, FIBSU National President.
