2027 Will Be My Last Shot At Presidency — Atiku
Former Vice President *Atiku Abubakar* has said the 2027 presidential election will be his last attempt at the presidency, and vowed to restore fuel subsidy if elected.
“Whether I win or lose, 2027 will be my last time contesting for the presidency,” he said.
*On Fuel Subsidy*
“I initially did not oppose the removal of fuel subsidy. But now that it has been removed, where is the money? Where has the subsidy money gone? Has it been used to improve healthcare, education or security?
If I win the presidential election, I will restore the subsidy. And anyone who stole Nigeria’s subsidy funds must return the money.”
*On Youth Inclusion*
“When I was Vice President, I gave many young Nigerians the opportunity to serve in government. Today, some of them are governors, ministers, directors and hold other important positions.
Therefore, if I become President, young Nigerians will continue to be given opportunities to serve and lead.”
*On 2027 Race and Tinubu’s Age*
“I have never denied young people or anyone in Nigeria the opportunity to contest for president. Why did they choose Tinubu, who is almost 90 years old and is not in good health?”
*On Obasanjo and Northern Support*
“If Obasanjo supports you, what more can he add to your presidential ambition? In 1999, he could not win his own state. A man who could not win an election without the support of us Northerners.
So, I don’t care that he does not support me.”
*On Tinubu’s Certificates and 1999 Administration*
“I was the one who raised the issue surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s academic certificates, and I stand by my position that there was forgery. It is unacceptable for the President of Nigeria to have such questions surrounding his academic credentials.”
“When we came into office in 1999, we inherited the government of Abacha. President Obasanjo came in angry, and I told him that this was not how we should do things.
We had records of what everyone had stolen. We called them, sat down with them, and told them to return what they had taken, while allowing them to…”
