The mother of Chief (Mrs) Ajibola Lawal, wife of Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, Alhaja Hanifat Adetoun Hashim, has been laid to rest in Oru Ijebu, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.

She passed away at the age of 99, early on Tuesday, without showing any symptoms of illness.

The Janaza, led by the Chief Imam of Oru Ijebu land, was attended by the Deputy Governor, his wife, top government functionaries, family, friends, Islamic clerics, community, and religious leaders.

Delivering a sermon after the burial, the Mufasiru of Oru Ijebu, Hussein Hassan Ireakari, emphasized the reality of death and prayed Allah give the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

He described Alhaja Anifat as a pious woman who upheld Islamic norms and values, stressing that she had merited four out of the five pillars of Islam.

While exhorting Barr. Lawal to sponsor sons of Oru Ijebu for Hajj as part of Iba’dah for the departed soul, Sheikh Ireakari prayed that Allah grant mama Aljanat Firdaos.

He equally admonished Muslims to be patient, steadfast in good deeds, noting that their actions will be rewarded on the Day of Qiyammah.

The Mufasiru however appreciated the Deputy Governor’s financial support for the League of Imams and Alfas and Alasalatu, whilst assuring of his support for the people of Oru Central Mosque.

The deceased was described by attendees as a devoted Muslim and “Iya Sunnah” of Odo Idonguse, who will be deeply missed by the community.
