Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN) Accepts PDP Nomination for Ibadan North Bye-Election, Thanks Gov. Makinde, Stakeholders

In a heartfelt press statement, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DoN, has officially accepted the decision of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to present him as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

Folajimi expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his unwavering support, leadership, and mentorship, describing the Governor as his political father and lifelong inspiration. According to him, the journey to this point has been one of learning, service, and loyalty under the guidance of Governor Makinde.

“I am truly humbled and honoured by the confidence reposed in me by our great party, the PDP. I want to sincerely thank His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his inspiration, leadership, and belief in my capacity. He has been a political father, a mentor, and a guiding light. I promise never to disappoint him or the party,” Folajimi stated.

He also extended his appreciation to all party stakeholders, leaders, aspirants, and members across Ibadan North and beyond who participated in the democratic process that led to his emergence. He acknowledged the painstaking deliberations and consultations that preceded the decision, noting that such diligence is a reflection of the PDP’s internal democracy and commitment to excellence.

“To all the stakeholders, party elders, aspirants, and faithful members of our great party, I am grateful for your trust and support. The outcome of this process is not a victory for me alone but a call to deeper service, unity, and commitment to the progress of Ibadan North and Oyo State,” he added.

Folajimi pledged to run a campaign rooted in people-first policies, grassroots engagement, and the progressive ideals of the PDP, assuring constituents that he is fully prepared for the task ahead.

With the PDP now presenting a unified front ahead of the August 16 bye-election, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle urged all members and supporters to rally together to ensure victory for the party at the polls.
