Hon. Salawu added that the project is expected to stimulate business growth, boost the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR), provide a more pleasant and efficient environment for businesses to thrive, enhance the movement of people, goods, and services, fostering inter-city connectivity and economic development.
Salawu’s commendation reflects the potential of the Twin Terminals project to transform Oyo State’s transportation system and drive economic growth.
The statement read: “Twin Terminals inspired by the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia. This project aims to modernize our transportation system, catering to the needs of the masses.
“It will enhance the movement of people, goods, and services, while fostering inter-city connectivity. Additionally, it will provide a more pleasant and efficient environment for businesses to thrive.
“Under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Government has consistently utilized data-driven approaches to inform decision-making. A notable example is the construction of four bus terminals in Ibadan, which will benefit over 50,000 people, stimulate business growth, and boost the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR).
“The terminals are strategically situated at four key locations in Ibadan: Ojoo, Challenge, Ife Road and Iwo Road. These terminals will serve as hubs for the Mass Transit Service, enhancing transportation in the city.
“The pedestrian bridge connecting the two terminals boosts the project’s efficiency and impact, allowing commuters to move safely between terminals without crossing the busy Ife Expressway dual carriageway.
“The open spaces will accommodate shop owners, particularly traditional clothing sellers from Gbagi Market, as well as showrooms, cinemas, and food courts. This hub offers significant business potential and high income prospects due to its strategic location and well-organized layout. Modern features include conveniences, lifts, and escalators.
“The contractor, Messrs Planet Project Ltd, brings extensive experience to this project, having successfully built bus terminals in Lagos, Ekiti, and recently in the Federal Capital Territory. This inspection was timely, given the imminent commissioning of the project by the governor. I’m accompanied by Alhaji Tomiwa Omolewa, Chairman of the Park Management System (PMS), and Mr. Bayo Ojuri, the contractor’s representative.”
